Comex Air Classification

Comex AS delivers cost-effective industrial system solutions and processing equipment for sophisticated and demanding applications. The core activities are related to the technologies for production and classification of fine powders and optical separation of large particles. Comex' efforts and accomplishments in R&D result in the latest state-of-the-art equipment together with know-how for industrial process solutions.

The classification efficiency will very much depend on the operating parameters of the air classifier. It includes effect of concentration of solids in the air, air flow rates and rotor speed. Additionally, the classification process will be affected by material properties, which can very much change the classification conditions. Finally, the construction parameters of the classifier are extremely important to provide efficient size separation and required product fineness.

Application of Comex air classifiers resulted in very significant energy savings and production increase for many industrial operations. Some of them are given below:

  • Production of feldspar and quartz
    • Increased production of 70 microns fraction by 90 % after an old classifier is replaced by the Comex ACX 700 unit.
    • Increased production of 40 microns fraction by 120% after application of ACX 700

  • Production of abrasives
    • Reduced total processing energy of ultra fine fraction by 90 % after application of ACX 200 series
    • Increased production flexibility after elimination of some wet processing stages
    • Reduced environmental pollution to negligible level (zero-waste technology)
